Position Overview
The Accounting Manager plays a key role in the accounting and reporting efforts of the accounting team. This role requires an individual with critical thinking skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to proactively address complex situations while anticipating potential accounting impacts. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Expertise in accounting and internal control requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt to changing business requirements and lead/support staff through such transitions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Actively participate in the month-end close and reporting process according to the reporting calendar.
- Supervise the work of accountants.
- Review, analyze, and approve general ledger transactions in a timely, accurate, and complete manner.
- Identify and resolve issues quickly or escalate appropriately, providing solutions when necessary.
- Oversee the preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual basis.
- Support external and internal audits by providing requested materials, interacting with auditors professionally, and addressing questions and inquiries.
- Offer feedback to staff to improve processes, including enhancing the quality of account reconciliations.
- Assist in researching and clearing reconciling items within established deadlines.
- Update desktop procedures promptly to reflect any changes in processes, tools, and procedures.
- Maintain month-end close, reporting, and other checklists, ensuring all tasks are completed before sign-off.
- Prepare and review additional supporting schedules and analyses as requested.
- Communicate effectively and timely with the accounting team and third-party service providers.
- Conduct independent analysis to identify opportunities for process improvements and make recommendations.

Job Qualifications
- Education:
- BBA or BS in Accounting (MS in Accounting desirable).
- Certifications:
- CPA certification or working toward CPA certification preferred.
- Experience:
- 7 to 9 years of previous accounting/audit experience in public or private accounting, with 2 to 3 years in a managerial role preferred.
- Experience with major ERPs (SAP, Great Plains, NetSuite) strongly preferred.
- Experience with Blackline strongly preferred.
- Strong reporting and data querying capabilities.
- Thorough knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Strong analytical skills and team management abilities.
- Detail-oriented approach to work, ability to maintain confidentiality, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to take initiative and follow through on projects.
- Must be proactive and provide solutions to challenges.
- Ability to work flexible hours (both in the office and remotely) to coordinate with the team during month-end close/reporting.
Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Certifications
- Project management skills strongly preferred.
